An ongoing Theoretical and Clinical Seminar co-led by Susan Finkelstein (New York) and David Bell (London).

Focusing on the historical evolution of psychoanalytical theory and technique from Freud to Contemporary Klein with an emphasis on learning a psychoanalytic theory of mind with regard to narcissistic, borderline and schizoid patients. Clinical studies accompany readings to integrate our practice with theory regarding ideas about the internal world and its objects.

This course explores central Kleinian concepts such as projective identification, enactment in the analytic situation, paranoid-schizoid and depressive positions, early (maternal) Oedipus complex, psychic retreats, reparation vs manic repair.
